Installation
Installing our directory systems is simple using our component system. The directory can easily be installed by property staff into security desks, walls, or free-standing enclosures.
Installing the PanelPC directory system: In some cases installation can be as simple as dropping the system into a cutout in a security desk. For vertical surfaces such as a wall, our mounting bracket may have to be installed first. The processor/monitor unit is then attached to the mounting bracket. The final step is to attach the cover plate.
In all cases the system must have access to an electrical source and will usually need either a phone line or a network connection.
Size
Because it's built around a flat panel monitor, you can install one of our directories just about anywhere, including flush against the wall. PanelPC directory system total depth is less than 4 inches, including the computer AND flat panel monitor. The small size also makes service much easier, since the entire unit can be shipped back to us if needed.
Updating
Web-based updating has some great advantages, including:
- Any computer with Internet access can be used for updating
- Multiple tenant lists can be maintained by a single person, for example, in the case of a multiple building office park
- Large tenants can be responsible for updating their own information (and ONLY their own information), relieving the property manager of the responsibility. This feature is particularly helpful for large law firms and for executive suites.
- The data is backed up nightly on the Directory Solutions web server. No more worries about losing the tenant data and having to start from scratch.
Getting Help
Actually, yes there are two ways to have someone else update your Directory Solutions directory.
- Using our unique web updating feature you can have your tenants be responsible for updating their own portion of the directory. Simply assign them a user name and password and you'll never to have to think about it again. A great feature for tenants with many names, such as large law offices and executive suites.
- You can also let Directory Solutions handle all of the updating. For an additional fee your tenants can fax, email, or send us their changes. We'll have the directory list updated within 48 hours.
Other Building Information
In addition to offering the expected lists of companies and individuals, our directory also makes other information available. Standard with the system are options for displaying leasing and property management information, as well as local area amenities. The area amenities can include business services on site, restaurants in the area, shops and other convenience services for visitors to the building. The list of amenities can be provided as a service by the property manager, or space on the amenities list can be sold to local businesses, helping generate additional revenues.
Lease or Purchase
Some customers prefer to lease our building directory systems. Leasing minimizes the amount of cash required, meaning that our directory can often be purchased through operating funds instead of capital funds. In some cases property managers may be able to pass the cost through in the form of net charges.
The lease price includes the extended warranty as well as the web updating service, all in one price. Typically the cost is calculated monthly, but billed quarterly.
Some customers opt for purchasing our system outright. Included in the purchase price is a two year extended warranty and access to our web-based directory updating tools.

Warranty
If you've leased us a system from us, or if you have our extended warranty plan, our warranty is simple:

Our warranty is unconditional. Whether a component failed or the system was completely destroyed in a fire, you're covered. In most cases we will have your directory back up and running within 72 hours. We'll ship you a replacement system (with your data already loaded) and you ship the broken unit back to us in the box the new one arrived in.
Software Upgrades
Because most of our directories are connected to a phone line, Directory Solutions can easily provide software upgrades and technical support. Using our remote access software means that when new features become available, everbody will get them.
Graphics and Logos
Our system includes full support for high resolution graphics, photos and logos. Each company listing on the directory can include a small graphic logo for the tenant, helping to increase the companies image and brand awareness. Company logos can be offered as a complementary service by the property manager or the logo can be added as an extra cost to the tenants. All logos must be submitted to Directory Solutions as a .jpg image, and will be scaled by us to fit the space available on the screen.
Networking
The Directory Solutions system is completely compatible with most Windows and Novell-based networks. With the networking feature, multiple directories can be easily connected in large buildings, or in multiple building complexes.
The system supports both 10 base-T and 100 base-T thin Ethernet, allowing for wiring using industry standard CAT5 cabling, terminated with an RJ45 adapter.
Internet Compatibility
Web kiosk interface: In addition to being able to update a tenant list through our web site, the Directory Solutions software is also compatible with web technology at the directory itself. We now offer options for web access, including features such as localized weather forecasts, sports scores and stock prices of interest to your tenants. Surf restrictions prevent access to unauthorized or inappropriate web sites.
Unlimited Names
There is no limit to the number of names that a Directory Solutions system can handle. This feature makes the system perfect for large office buildings, multi-building office parks, offices with executive suites, and offices where tenants have a large number of individual listings, such as law firms. Of course, the property manager always has the option of charging extra to tenants who exceed a certain number of individual listings.
